NEWSFLASH: You may be reading about the possibility of $30M being spent on screening and early intervention for dyslexia. Julie and I have a meeting with the Chief of Staff and the Ministry of Education and Child Care to explain that implementing Davis Learning Strategies for Early Years and Davis Learning Strategies for K-3 teachers removes the reason for the challenges occurring in the first place. Also, if there is a Davis Facilitator available to every School District they will reach those with the existing challenges… SEAs could be trained in the follow-up… here’s to our dream coming true!

Spring heralds a fresh start and the potential for brighter opportunities

We are so grateful to everyone who helped, supported and donated to us. With your help we continue to strive to meet our objectives and make a difference in the lives of incredibly talented, creative, inventive individuals with The Gift of Dyslexia !!!

The fun continues with our documentary. We are filming our documentary, we’ve had several working titles, the first being ‘Who Knew?... Everyone is Able to Learn’ and currently “Who Knew?… Rethinking Dyslexia in Education.   Sue is very grateful to our National Screen Institute Mentor, Maureen Levitt, to our Director, Kelly Conlin, all the film crew and all the participants. It’s exciting and very much part of our goal to ensure many learning challenges can be prevented. We are grateful to be funded by Telus STORYHIVE, who will put it out on Telus Optik, so no backer needed… but after that who knows?

Check out our STORYHIVE Project Blog for updates on our progress HERE.

Our Early Childhood Educators ‘NEUROINCLUSIVITY FOR EARLY YEARS’ Professional Development Pilot is completed…we are delighted with the results, sad its over, and very happy that some of the ECEs want to continue with the tools and skills for the rest of this school year. Sue hopes the Ministry of Education will take up the course, but if not, the WDS come up with a way forward, the whole experience is way too valuable not to continue. We are so grateful to all the ECEs who took part, to Stacey Smith the Workshop presenter and to Julie Brewer, who brought all her expertise and experience to the pilot. If you meet an Early Childhood Educator who is interested to know what we did, please give them our contact details.. info@thewds.org or call Sue ..604 614 4958.

INTRODUCING A UNIVERSAL SYMBOL for Dyslexia

It’s time for us all to show how proud we are of our way of thinking, our gift of altering perception.

When we found out there was no universal symbol for dyslexia, we created one, a beautiful, positive one.

All proceeds from the sale of our ‘Gifted with Dyslexia’ magnetic pins go towards our initiatives: to purchase visit our page HERE.
